The Muskogee Civic Center, which has hosted a number of entertainment acts including Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, Willie Nelson, Turnpike Troubadours, George Jones and Loretta Lynn to name a few, is famous for its association with Merle Haggard's mega chartbusting hit single, "Okie from Muskogee." - The iconic song was recorded as a demo in the Muskogee Civic Center's Star Room in 1969 when Merle was in town for a live performance.
