New Tribe's sound has roots in American musical traditions of rock n roll, blues, country and folk, but branches out into cosmic, improvised, unclassifiable realms more akin to jazz and psychedelia.

The members of the current trio line up (Eric Sarmiento - guitar/vocals, Chris Gomez - keys/vocals, Adam Sarmiento - bass/guitar/drums/vocals) have been the constants in a long, strange journey that began with gigs in central Oklahoma in 1993. Other notable members of the band have included Mike Hosty - bass/vocals, Lawrence Linden - percussion/vocals and Sterling Finlay - bass/vocals.
